Sore throats can be such a pain. Apart from the fact that it makes your throat feel uncomfortable, it can develop into quite a lot of unwanted things. For instance, a prolonged sore throat can lead to other illnesses like a cough and catarrh. In fact, you can eventually lose your voice. Also, you will definitely hate to eat all your favorite foods and drinking something cold is going to be the worst decision ever. As uncomfortable as sore throats can be, you can actually get rid of them very fast.
Step #1: Gaggle warm water and salt
During the early stages of a sore throat, it’s best to keep yourself as hydrated as possible. Although drinking water will be uncomfortable, try gaggling a bit of salt and warm water before drinking water. This relieves you temporarily enough for you to drink a lot of water.
Step #2: Armour yourself with Cucumber
One of the best fruits to have when you’re having a sore throat is the cucumber. Cucumbers are perfect for your terrible sore throat days. The fiber along with other nutrients in the cucumber cures your sore throat almost immediately. You can use cucumber when you have the first sign of sore throats. During my worst sore throat days, cucumber helped a lot.
Step 3#: Lozenges
If your sore throat is getting really bad, you should try having lozenges. While not all lozenges work, make sure you’re getting the ones that work well. Your throat should feel better within the next two days. Also, ensure not to overuse the lozenge. For really strong lozenges, you may be causing an injury on your hard palate if you’re licking too many. Make sure it’s as moderate as possible. It will heal regardless.
Step #4: Antibiotics
In extreme cases, it is best to use antibiotics for a sore throat. A sore throat may be as a result of bacteria or a virus. If you notice your sore throat is not going in three days, and you have exhausted all first three options, it may be the best time to use antibiotics.
